Keep 60 Rabbits Safe from Summer Heat
Donation protected
The rabbits of our rescue need your help in a big way.
For the last two summers, we have used 3 window air conditioners to attempt to cool the barn we use. Unfortunately, while spending $500+ per month in electric, and having by to replace 1-2 units per season, it would still climb to over 85 degrees during the day.
That is not sustainable. It is not good for the rabbits, the power grid, or the volunteers who have to come to the barn to work in sweltering heat and humidity.
We have gotten quotes from several companies for AC to be installed, but now we have to come up with the money.
The quote we have chosen to go with is just over $14,000. We also need $750 to run new electrical. Additionally, we are hoping for $250 for a storm door. Factoring in the fees that platforms charge, we are setting a goal of $16,000. Unfortunately, time is ticking, as the Michigan heat will be here before we know it.
If we cannot raise the funds, we will be forced to decide if we have to downsize the rescue and close the barn. Currently there are approximately 60 rabbits living there.
Please help us to provide a safe, healthy and sustainable environment for the rabbits in our care, both in fosters, and in our bunny barn.
