How £10 can let these kids play The Beautiful Game in 2026

I’ve been coaching football in Colombia since 2018. In that time, I’ve witnessed the transformative power that a safe space and a steady routine can have on a young person’s life.

We work in Comuna 13, Medellin—a resilient community with a complex history. We use The Beautiful Game as a tool to create stability, build community, and offer positive opportunities to local kids.

With many families displaced by conflict and living below the poverty line, the boys and girls we coach are some of the most vulnerable in the country. The football pitch provides a safe haven from otherwise dangerous and unwanted distractions such as gangs, drugs, and violence.

However, the lasting economic effects of the pandemic have placed this vital space under real pressure.

Our reality is this: without community support, we risk being unable to provide a space for roughly 40% of our participants—about 50 young people. These are kids who have found a sense of belonging here and train with us consistently, but whose families can no longer manage the fees.

The New Year signals the start of a new season in Colombia, and we're doing our best to provide the space for these kids to register for 2026. This will allow them to keep their routine of training three times a week and playing matches on weekends.

Your contribution directly impacts our ability to keep the kids on the pitch and off the streets.

£10 – Covers the monthly participation for one child.

£20 – Covers the annual registration fee for one child (insurance, admin, etc.).

£25 – Allows three kids to train three times per week for one month.

£50 – Secures the registration fee plus three months of training for one child.

I often think back to the opportunities I had playing football and other sports, and how my parents were happy to support those programmes for my development. It makes me realise how lucky I was.

If you can support in any way to help these kids—who are just looking for the same opportunities to be kids—then any donation will be much appreciated.
