It is with heavy hearts we announce that our Friend and Brother, Kedar Bhandari, died unexpectedly at a young age due to a massive heart attack on Jan 8, 2023, leaving behind his wife (Shanta) and two young sons, Shreyan (3 years old) and Krish (18 months old). Despite all efforts by paramedics, Kedar could not be revived and passed away at his apartment.
The family's financial situation is dire due to losing their sole breadwinner. Kedar’s three-year-old Son Shreyan is diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and regularly needs therapies and medical treatments. Krish, who is just 18 months old, is starting to speak and walk. Both Kedar and Shanta are first generation immigrants and don’t have a big support system in the USA.
100% of the funds raised will go directly to cover Kedar’s funeral expenses and children’s medical and educational needs. Shreyan’s Autism diagnosis is a lifelong disability and requires regular treatments, therapies and special programs to meet his needs. Please share your deepest sympathy and generous support for this devastated family.
Kedar was passionate about food and opened a local Indian Nepalese restaurant (Wokmandu) in Ypsilanti, Michigan, right at the beginning of the pandemic. He worked tirelessly to share Indian and Nepalese cuisine with the community and to support his family. However, various challenges posed by COVID forced him to close his business. The family lost all their savings and struggled financially in the past couple of years. Many of you will remember Kedar as a hard worker and someone who helped others despite all his financial struggles.
Kedar always volunteered to cook at community gatherings. His love for singing always brought smiles to everyone’s face and he was a big Kishore Kumar Fan. He is not with us but he will always stay in all our hearts. The outpouring support the family has received is evidence of how many lives Kedar touched.
If you cannot contribute, please share this crowdfunding page with your friends and family.
