Please help the World in poverty by helping Kea

I am supporting 20 year old Kea Frame from Australia/Japan who is pursuing his huge dream of becoming a bush pilot, dedicating his life to helping others around the world. I believe Kea has the strong mindset needed to trace similar goals as his father, who passed away in 2009. Here’s what Kea says about this project:

--- Message from Kea himself ---

Hello and thank you for checking out my project. Please let me introduce myself.

My name is Kea Fujiki Frame. I’m 20 years old and was born in Australia to an Australian father and a Japanese mother. I spent the first 10 years of my life growing up on my father's organic farm, a property covered in rainforest and surrounded by a national park in northern NSW, Australia.

My father, Andy Frame, dedicated a large part of his life to fighting against global warming, logging and saving animals. He grew native Australian rainforest plants from seeds and sold or donated them to encourage regrowth of Australian rainforests. He also spent time overseas helping prevent logging in Asia and Indonesia, in addition helping local people protect their culture and livelihoods. Unfortunately Andy passed away suddenly when I was 10 years old. My mother decided that she couldn’t raise her three sons in the rainforest by herself and decided to take us back to my grandmother's house in Fukuoka, Japan.

After settling down in Japan, I attended a local primary school and then middle school. I struggled a lot to learn Japanese and I was bullied at first because of my mixed Asian Anglo  looks but eventually I made really good friends.  After middle school I decided to go to a high school that had an international class and half of the students were from different countries around the world. I really enjoyed my high school life.

After graduating high school, I decided to chase my dream of becoming a pilot. However, as I researched flying schools in Japan, I discovered that it was totally unaffordable for my family. Thankfully because of my English skills, I found out that it was five times cheaper to study flying in Canada, so I packed my bags and headed to Canada to train for my pilots license.

I loved flying and got addicted immediately. I went on my first solo flight on my 18th hour and my training was heading in a good direction. I got my PPL (private pilots license) on my 60th hour and my dream of becoming a pilot came true. The average time to get a PPL is around 85 hours so I was really happy I got my license so fast, saving a lot of money. Flight training is paid for by the hour and I paid for this training almost entirely out of my own pocket. I used three years of savings from my high school job and then used my holidays in Canada to work as a tour guide in Yellowknife during their negative 40 degree celsius winter.

After getting my PPL, Coronavirus started and I came back to Japan to focus on raising the money to achieve my next dream: to become a bush pilot.

A bush pilot is a pilot who flies small airplanes in very isolated areas, delivering vital and life saving supplies to remote tribes and other local people. It is known as one of the most dangerous jobs in the world because more often they don’t have a safe runway to land on, landing in jungles, deserts and even on frozen lakes. The small open areas for landing can be unstable, slippery, covered in debris and even roaming wild animals, creating higher risks of accidents.

To become a bush pilot, I will need more flying experience and flight hours. My first goal will be around 500 hours.

After a lot of research, I have worked out that the most affordable way to accomplish these hours is to purchase my own small second hand plane. The only downside to this is that I need quite a large amount of money upfront. My hope, by setting up this crowdfunding project, is that I can raise enough money to assist me in this dream.

After I finish my training in Canada, I plan to travel to Indonesia and start my new career as a bush pilot. It’s a risky job but I will be really happy to combine my love of flying with something similar to my dad, working in nature, assisting remote communities and potentially even saving peoples lives.

Thank you, Kea Fujiki Frame
