Help Sally Sorenson (Trash Trolls)
Donation protected
An update on August 3rd, 2023. Keary Sorenson passed away early this morning and his bride and all who knew him are devastated by his passing. I just spoke with Sally and she is overwhelmed by the debt they carry. She and I will go through all their bills together on Sunday and we will make a spreadsheet to organize her finances. What I know so far is that the injuries last year kept Keary from working and they had to hire people to help with jobs instead of covering their jobs themselves, and then he got sick. Chef Helena of Baked on the River threw him a birthday party on Sunday with many of his closest friends, and on Sunday, Keary told me they are behind on both income and property taxes, their vehicle registration is due and the truck Sally is using for Everclean North work needs a rather pricey repair. Please consider a donation to help Sally put some of the debt behind her and move forward after losing her love and life partner in crime.

Thank you to everyone who made a donation to this GoFundMe in June and who went to the Give-Back Tuesday at the end of May. Keary was so touched by the love from you all and grateful to be a part of our loving community.
Keary didn't get much sleep over the last 8-10 months and shared many updates about his cancer and several funny posts like this one: "RIP??? NOT ME!!! I know now I'm going to be a restless ghost and wander the streets all eternity."
Original post in May 2023:
Fate is piling it on for our Trash Trolls, Keary and Sally Sorenson. They do so much for our community but bad things just keep happening to them. It feels like they just can't catch a break. Now it's a diagnosis of inoperable cancer for Keary; chemotherapy is already underway. They need help with living expenses and the burden of new medical bills. Unfortunately they can't afford to just stop working to heal.
Financially, this could not happen at a worse time - their income has already been reduced due to Keary's wrist injury, followed by an excruciatingly painful shoulder injury and the loss of their two employees at Everclean North. Keary's surgeon decided his shoulder surgery can not happen because he is receiving chemo. He went MONTHS without a decent night's sleep due to pain in his shoulder. He is receiving cancer treatment at Sutter Hospital with trips to receive treatment in San Francisco
In case you are not familiar, the Trash Trolls clean downtown Guerneville with a pressure washer on the bridge, the plaza and sidewalks as needed, and empty the trash cans when they are overflowing. They go to camps formed by unhoused members of the community with their truck & trailer to clean up trash and to help unhoused folks evacuate when fire or flooding seems imminent. The Russian River Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence honored the Sorensons by naming Keary, St Mr. Hippy Skippy Clean Jeans and Sally, St Mrs Hippy Skippy Clean Jeans.
Other service you may not know about includes marine debris removal at the coast every weekend for many YEARS, travel to the sites of oil major spills to clean oil off marine wildlife, and performing necropsies on whales and other marine mammals washed up on beaches at the coast. The marine debris unit participated in programs to educate children about the horrifying effects of litter, especially plastics, and other forms of pollution. You have probably seen one of their goofy floats constructed of plastic
items that washed up on the seashore in a local parade.
The Sorensons have been a wonderful part of our Russian River family for many years and their service to the community has been constant. Now they need our help. Please donate if you can - donations in any amount will be appreciated and help the Sorensons navigate this medical nightmare.
NOTE: This GoFundMe has been created for the Sorensons and all funds will go directly to THEM and THEIR bank account.
