Kearney Strong ☘️

My brother, Billy and I are writing this on behalf of our mother, Susann Clarke Kearney. She was born with Polycystic Kidney disease and received her first kidney transplant in 2003. Her younger sister donated it to her and, thankfully, it lasted 16 years. Unfortunately, it is failing and she is now in stage 4 kidney failure. She is currently on the wait list for a kidney at Augusta University and just recently returned from the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fl for a weeks worth of testing to be put on their wait list as well. Before she can "officially" be placed on the Mayo Clinic's list she is required to pay $3000.00 to cover her post operative medicines that may not be covered by her medical insurance. The Mayo Clinic holds the money until after her surgery and it then goes to the Mayo's pharmacy to cover up to one year's worth of medications. 

Our parents are finding it impossible to save money for the transplant at this time due to our father's, William R. Kearney, ongoing chemotherapy to treat his lung cancer. 3 months ago, he was diagnosed and had the right upper lobe of his lung removed. He currently has 3 more "rounds" (3 weeks per round) of chemotherapy which will last another 3 months. He will then need to complete radiation therapy. Of course, dad has been unable to work during this, and because of his recent diagnosis they now have his medical expenses hanging over their heads as well. Both of their prescription medicines, even with the discounts they find, are exhausting their fixed monthly income. 


They need the $3000.00 quickly to help get mom on the waitlist at the Mayo Clinic and anything over that amount will help them meet their monthly needs while our father is unable to work.
