Help Ke'ala and her fight with cancer

***UPDATE***12/15/2020 I am CANCER-FREE!!! God is Good! Your prayers, well wishes, love, aloha, positive vibes, gifts, support, visits, letters, food, clean house, organize house, healing massages, elixirs, edibles, calls, monetary donations ALL helped me through this. There aren’t enough thank yous or words to express my immense gratitude for all of you in my life. Thank you for following me on my journey. On to new adventures, a new career and another opportunity to begin anew. Mahalo, Mahalo, Mahalo. Ke Akua Pū. ***UPDATE***

Due to missing a federally mandated deadline for distributing funds the donations that were generously and lovingly contributed to date (over $17,000) were fully refunded to all donors and unfortunately no funds were distributed to Ke'ala.   A couple more members of the extended O’hana have joined the team to provide additional administrative support of this campaign so that Ke’ala and her family can enjoy this wonderful gift.

As a reminder, due to the pandemic, the resort Ke’ala works for has had to close until it was safe to open up again.  Medical coverage for Ke’ala is expected to cease at the end of September.  We wanted to help the Kadooka family with insurance coverage and medical bills (all the ways we can help at the bottom).

About Ke'ala:
On February 4, 2020 Ke’ala received a call at 4:42 pm that no one really ever wants to get from their doctor.  The biopsy taken on 1/31 tested positive for cancer.

A CT scan revealed a rare form of cervical cancer named: Mesonephric Adenocarcinoma. Only 20 other women in the world have had it. There is extraordinarily little data on this tenacious endometrial cancer.

By February 24, Ke’ala had a full hysterectomy. A PET scan showed some possible cancerous cells in her left groin area, so the left inguinal lymph node was recommended to be removed.

Ke’ala began chemo on 4/9/2020 and went through 6 cycles every three weeks.  On those chemo days, infusion took about 5 hours and 5-6 days of recovery to get through the sickness and pain.  She is now currently undergoing daily radiation therapy for 5 weeks ending in a final series of high dose radiation treatment to hopefully fully eliminate any cancer and keep it from returning.

How can you help?
-  If you are still in a position to do so, please consider resending your generous contribution (once your refund has been received) to assist in covering medical bills and maintaining insurance coverage .

- Healthy recipes that the family can make that helps heal the body from the inside out.  She should be able to find the ingredients in Hawai’i.  Think simple, insta-pot kine tings and yummy salads/veggie recipes.

-  Help with rides, meals, errands, and just being a friend.

-  Last but not least.  Our prayers and support.  Let's help her continue the fight!!!

Thank you so much for the outpouring of love and generosity that has been exhibited with the original campaign.   We will be sure to get the funds disbursed to Ke’ala's Family this time around.

 With much Aloha,

The Help Ke'ala Fight Cancer Team
