So this is the part we are supposed to write our story, its a very long and hard story if we go from the beginning. Jonas is one half of an identical twin, who gave us grief before he was born, and then has been dealt a hand that most people would have given up on.
For the sake of time, I think we will touch on the major parts. When Jonas was born, he had a stroke. At 29 weeks gestation, a body just isn't set up to handle that kind of stress! That moment has dictated the rest of Jonas' life.
For the past eleven years, Jonas has coped with Cerebral Palsy, Spastic Quadriplegia, Legal Blindness and a plethora of let's call them smaller things in comparison to these. Jonas has gone thru feeding tubes, surgeries, more medications than you can imagine, various wheelchairs, all kinds of standing frames, and now....vehicles!
Jonas is wheelchair bound, cannot speak, and is completely dependant on us as a family to make sure his every day needs are met. He has appointments at the Alberta Children's Hospital every 2 weeks, goes to elementary school at River Valley (who have been most accomodating for this boy!!) and has 3 other brothers who are very active within the community and travel all over for sports.
Our goal is to raise money to be able to afford a proper special needs vehicle that can take everyone as a family and keep Jonas comfortable. When you factor in the day to day expenses for Jonas, let alone all the boys as a whole, a vehicle like this is just out of our reach. The community of Sundre has helped so much over the past eleven years and we are asking for help on a large scale. We understand it is a big undertaking, but it is an undertaking that would change how one young man experiences the world. He cannot go anywhere with his brothers unless we take extra vehicles, We can't fit all of his utensils with him, and not to mention he is close to out growing his oversized car seat which means he wont be able to travel at all, unless we can make something work. We appreciate you taking the time to read this, and if it is within your means to help out, believe me when we say Thank you from the bottoms of our hearts, you honestly do not know how much it means to us!
