Help Me Get To Columbia University
My name is Ainin Sofiya Rhimie and I am an Undergrad majoring in Philosophy who just received an acceptance letter from Columbia University, School of General Studies. This is one of the biggest achievements of my life ever since emigrating with my family to the United States from Singapore.
The big move has been an eye-opening experience for me. I saw it as my second chance to continue my education and worked hard during my two years in Suffolk County Community College. I was able to maintain a consistent 4.0 GPA, I was on the Dean's List for four consecutive semesters, I am part of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and, on top of that, I was the Editor-in-Chief of my school's student-run newspaper. I plan on continuing my education at Columbia to become a Philosophy Professor and a Writer.
Aside from our savings, scholarship and other financial help, Columbia's tuition fee is still a little too much for me to handle. Therefore, I would like to seek help from the community to offer any amount you are willing to give. Below is the breakdown of the total yearly fee I would have to pay outside of any financial aid/scholarships.
Budget Category:
Tuition $63,104
Document Fee $105
Health Service Fee $1,214
ISSO Fee $220
Medical Insurance $3,676
Orientation Fee $290
Student Life Fee $1,470
Living Expenses $18,360
Books & Supplies $1,400
Transportation $1,170
Personal Expenses $4,185
Budget Totals
---------
$95,194
All funds raised will be going towards my tuition fee and any other school-related expenses. $50, 000 is a big goal to achieve, especially when I need it during my semester at Columbia (September 2020). I appreciate every dollar and every cent given as it will be helping me achieve my dreams of studying in an institution that will help propel me towards my aspirations.
