Our family is asking for financial help on behalf of Isaiah Leon Olivarez-Martin, our dear Izzy, who was killed by a Caldwell police officer on June 17th, 2023, at the age of 15 years old.

The details shared with our family surrounding Isaiah's death have been incongruent and difficult to understand, especially for anyone who knew Isaiah. After we reported Isaiah missing, we did not learn that he was killed for nearly 72 excruciating hours after he passed away.

We will have more details in the coming months and ask for everyone's respect, discretion, and patience as we develop a clearer timeline and more meaningful context regarding what happened that night.

In the meantime, our family has hired a lawyer. The Texas Rangers are investigating the incident. The officer involved in the shooting was admitted to a hospital the same night Isaiah was killed and released the next day for a gunshot wound he suffered during his shift.

It is a deeply upsetting and confusing time for all involved. We are asking for healing prayers for everyone.

We are also asking for assistance with paying for Isaiah's funeral arrangements as well as support for an independent autopsy to be performed by a forensics pathologist with specialized training. We have applied for financial assistance for this, but that does not guarantee these costs will be covered. We will find out in 10 days. Financial support will also provide a cushion to Isaiah's immediate family who have been deeply impacted by the loss of Isaiah.
