It is with a heavy heart that I write this message.
Energetic, ornery, stubborn, fun-loving, and playful are words that describe many 1-year old boys. A couple months ago Ke’on Ray Covington (Son of CJ Covington and Paula Gonzales) started displaying different characteristics, those often associated with any 1-year-old that has a cold, ear infection, or is de-hydrated. At a screening on June 6, 2019 Ke’on had blood taken and the medical providers were alarmed by the results that came back. Instantly, a flight was requested to Children’s Mercy in Kansas City and Ke’on was life watched.
On June 7, 2019 after a series of tests and procedures, results indicated that Ke'on has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia that will require treatment for at least the next 3.5 years. He is currently undergoing extensive therapy which requires the family to travel over 400 miles each direction to Children's Mercy on a weekly basis. Between treatments, when the family returns to their home town in rural SW Kansas to normalize their life as much as possible, there is a constant fear of Ke’on developing a fever and needing to be life watched back to Children’s Mercy at any time due to Ke’on’s immune system being highly suspectable to infection.
At this time, Paula and CJ are doing everything they can to keep a continuous income to support their family of four. However, there are many unknowns as to what will be required by treatments in the future.
All funds raised will go towards medical bills and living expenses for Ke'on and his family.
Please help us in reaching this goal, but most importantly please keep Ke’on and his family in your prayers.
