Family in crisis

Hi, my name is Denise Parker and I have started this GoFundMe for a tenant of mine who is in crisis. I will tell their story using the name Faith for the mom and Hope for the daughter.

Faith is a loving mother of 2 boys and Hope, her 14 year old daughter. She is a hard working single mom. She devoted her time during Covid at VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICA to help others in need while working her full time job.

Unfortunately, Faith is a victim of domestic violence. She eventually was able to divorce her husband. Believing she was free from him, he continued to stock the entire family. He sabotaged Faith’s bank account and caused fear throughout the family. Eventually, he showed up at Faith’s work and brutally beat her. Luckily, there were many witnesses, and he is now in jail.

The aftermath of all of the family trauma took a great toll on young Faith. She has run away repeatedly, and during one of the times she ran away, a man adducted and raped her. This was so traumatic for young Hope that she took to using drugs to deal with being raped. Faith has tried to get her into a treatment program, but to no avail as there are no beds available in our state currently for a 14-year-old. Over the past few months, Hope has continued to run away and encountered a sex trafficker that somehow latched onto her. fortunately, Faith had sewn a tracker in her jacket. The police were able to locate her before anything more horrific could happen.

Needless to say, the family is in dire straights. Faith is often called from work because Hope keeps running away as she tries to get away from all of her pain. Faith is feeling very lost and alone and is running out of options.

I am not going to let this family end up on the street… As their landlord I have subsidized their housing for many months but I can’t do it all. There is a facility in California that has a bed that can take Hope but we’ve got to get her there. We also need to help this family get back on their feet financially so that they do not become another statistic. I have complete confidence this help will be successful. Faith has been a tenant of mine for 10 years. This is not who she is. She needs help!
