Help Brian Hacker’s Fight against cancer

Donation protected
Dear Friends and Family of Brian Hacker,

On Brian’s birthday, November 7th, he went to the Emergency room with severe pain and bleeding. The first thought was kidney stones. After hours of blood tests, MRI and a CT scan it was found to be an almost 6 inch tumor in his right kidney(Renal Cell Carcinoma) . Further tests show irregularities in his brain scan and nodules on his right lung. After spending four days in the hospital, they released him without the lung biopsy necessary to had determine if the cancer has spread to his lungs.

If you know Brian, he is a tough, hardworking man that never asks for help with anything. To find out you have cancer on your 47th birthday in Brian’s words “brought my world into razor sharp focus”  So we are asking for help on his behalf to hopefully take some of the burden of this illness off of his plate.

He has no insurance. He just started a great new job, and insurance will not kick in for 90 days. At this moment he is dependent on the system to get his immediate health care needs taken care of.  They plan to remove his entire kidney. But right now he just waits for them to determine his treatment plan and that’s why we need to help him. The future is unknown, but we do know that Brian will lose more work, have bills, need medication and the support of all his friends and family.  Every little bit helps.

And there’s his Mom, Alice (or Ali to some of us) needs to see and believe that her son will be ok. We’d like to help her get to her son during his critical care and provide him comfort that only a mother can. (Brian lives in Texas and Mom lives in California.   Speaking Of comfort, the sweet pup you see in photos with Brian is his service dog, Riley. Riley never left Brian’s side while in the hospital, providing Brian with the emotional support that he most gravely needed being alone and learning he has cancer.

With all this said, Brian and our family are so grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers and support.
