Amanda and I met in 6th grade and became best friends since. We were absolutely inseparable through school, especially when Amanda lost her mom to cancer. We were both very young, only 13 years old, and leaned on each other for support during the loss. As we grew older, I looked up to Amanda more and more. She is the most brave, caring, loving, responsible person I have ever met. Unfortunately, Amanda and her family have been completely shattered by the devastating news "you have cancer". Amanda and her family now are separated due to her needing extensive medical treatment out of town. She is a mother to a young daughter that miss each other dearly.
Amanda was diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer the last week of April 2023 and has begun her cancer journey with her medical team in Stanford, CA. Currently only a plan has been started as Amanda is still going through a lot of tests to figure out specifics. What they do know is due to the large size of the tumor it is inoperable so chemo and radiation treatment will be discussed after testing.
On 5/1/23 Amanda had a few biopsy procedures and a stint placed in her left kidney due to it not functioning properly from stress and pressure on the tumor. Her doctors also confirmed the cancer is in her cervix, ureter, and lymph nodes.
On 5/3/23 Amanda completed her PET scan (skull to knees). She had a hard time managing pain through flare ups from the medication but overall it went well. Later that day her port procedure was also completed.
I want to raise funds for Amanda and her family to help alleviate some of the financial stress of her no longer being able to work full time, medical bills and travel expenses to and from Redding and Stanford, CA, so they can focus entirely on battling this awful disease. We all are incredibly thankful for anyone who reads her story, shares her story, or donates. Please keep Amanda and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,
Amanda's childhood best friend❤️
