Hi everyone, my name is Gary Catilo, and I am reaching out on behalf of my 42-year-old brother, Roberto Catilo.

On September 15 2025, Roberto was in a serious car crash on Port Wakefield Highway while returning to Whyalla from Adelaide. Strong winds caused the car he was driving to flip and hit a tree. While his passenger escaped with minor injuries, Roberto was left fighting for his life with multiple severe injuries, including a broken leg requiring several surgeries, a broken arm, and ocular compartment syndrome. He was admitted to the ICU, sedated and intubated. Thankfully, his tube has now been removed, but the road ahead is long, uncertain, and frightening.

Roberto lives in Whyalla for work and had travelled to Adelaide with his coworker to take the PTE test, an important step toward submitting his new 482 visa. Sadly, this accident has shattered his plans and left him facing overwhelming medical expenses. On top of this, his working visa is set to expire in October 2025, making it even harder for him to focus on recovery and provide for his family. Together, these challenges have placed Roberto and his family in a vulnerable position at a time when they need stability and support the most.

Roberto’s family situation makes this even more heartbreaking. His wife and three children, ages 19, 14, and just 4 years old, live in the Philippines. As their main provider, Roberto has always worked tirelessly to give them stability, security, and hope for the future. Now, with him unable to work for months, possibly longer, his family has been left with no income to cover daily needs, let alone the rising medical bills.
