Help Kc During Critical Heart Surgery & Recovery

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,

We are raising funds to support Kc and her family during a critical health challenge.

For those of you who don’t know, Kc was born with a congenital heart condition. She has had multiple open heart surgeries since birth and is scheduled to undergo another open heart surgery to receive an LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist Device). This device will serve as a crucial bridge to a potential heart transplant in the future and will significantly improve her quality of life.

The purpose of the LVAD is to take over the pumping function of the heart, taking the strain of the severely weakened muscle. This procedure requires Kc and her family to temporarily relocate to Edmonton, AB for the surgery and post-surgery recovery period. Due to the relocation, high risk, and training requirements for the device, computer, and other electronic components, the need to spend upwards of 4-6 months in Edmonton is a mandatory requirement from the medical care team.

As you might imagine, this creates a financial burden with short-term accommodations, food, transportation, and other essential expenses. At the same time, the family needs to cover many of these same costs back home. That’s why we have started this fundraiser.

About Kc:

Kc is a kind and thoughtful person who has always put others’ needs before her own. She is a mother to 4 children and grandmother to 1 adorable granddaughter. She is strong and persevering with a positive attitude about her health, despite the challenges she has faced throughout her life.

In conclusion, we are aiming to raise $10,000 to cover short-term (4-months) accommodations, food, and other travel/relocation costs during this time.

With the surgery scheduled for September 2024, we hope to raise funds quickly to ensure that her family can stay close to her during this critical time. Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference. Your support will not only help alleviate the financial stress but also provide Kc with the peace of mind she needs to focus on her recovery.
