Phyllis Needs a Mobility Scooter
Donation protected
My name is Phyllis. I'm am Alpha. I was diagnosed with genetic Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency in 2010 . AAT deficiency causes rapid and early lung destruction, as well as liver and pancreas damage, among other auto immune degenerations. I require oxygen 24/7, and have 22% FEV. I can barely walk 25ft without going into an exacerbation, and even less distance if I'm carrying anything, such as books, tanks, purse... My mobility has been deeply affected, as well as my independence. I need help.
I am about to begin my 3rd year toward my BAA in Biotechnology, racing toward a cure or treatment for Alpha-1. As each semester has passed, I have increasingly struggled to navigate the campus to attend my classes. The campus is huge, but even the handicap accessibility is limited. I am THISSSSS close to achieving my goals. I need to be able to navigate the campus. My disability and Medicare does not cover this scooter. I cannot afford one, but I can't quit now. I need your help...
