Double Up Bucks Program
A Collaboration with University of Idaho Extension’s Eat Smart Idaho & the Kootenai County Farmers’ Market
Eat Smart Idaho and Kootenai County Farmers' Market are teaming up to increase access to fresh, locally grown food for those in need. Kootenai County Farmers' Market and Eat Smart Idaho hope to increase access to fresh fruits and vegetables to low income individuals by starting a Double-Up Bucks Program.

In order to raise awareness and promote participation at the market, the two organizations are initiating a Double Up Bucks Program, offering matching dollars for anyone using food stamps EBT/SNAP cards. SNAP dollars will be matched one to one, up to $20. For individuals living in crisis, this will allow their $10 SNAP credit to become $20 worth of fresh, healthy food. In December 2015 there were 16,916 individuals accessing EBT/SNAP benefits in Kootenai County.
The wins of this program are three-fold: low-income families bring home healthy food, local farmers gain new customers and make more money, and more food dollars stay in our local economy. Each creates a ripple effect of benefits across the community.
We Need Your Help: We are seeking funding to get this program off the ground this market season. The Kootenai County Farmers Market is open for 18 weeks this summer starting in May. See above for sponsorship benefits.
Locations:
Saturday: 9 am to 1:30 pm. SE Corner Hwy 95 & Prairie Ave. Hayden Idaho.
Wednesday: 4 pm to 7 pm Sherman Ave. & Fifth St. Coeur d’ Alene Idaho.
Dates: May thru October -- Saturday Market
May thru September -- Wednesday Market
