Hi, my name is Tyler, and I'm fundraising for James Kinser seen in the cover photo. On June 14th, 2022, at about 3-4 am, James(Jim) suffered a heart attack and was rushed to Henry Ford Jackson. He had 100% blockage and suffered cardiac arrest multiple times on his way to the hospital and was given CPR with the machine in the ambulance for over 45 minutes. He was kept on a ventilator and Impella therapy and on the first day, my mom was told by 1 of 4 doctors there to make arrangements that his outlook didn't look good. Henry Ford Jackson was worried that if his heart needed a stronger Impella they didn't have the equipment so they made arrangements and around 8 pm he was Medevac'ed to Henry Ford Detroit. That bill is 57k.
He is off the ventilator and impella, but he will now suffer from CKD: Cronic Kidney Disease due to the damage. He will need dialysis three days a week for the rest of his life or until he can get a transplant. I am unsure of what will be covered by Medicaid, but the hospital allowed them to apply after the fact so hoping a lot will be covered by insurance, but with our healthcare system the way it is, I'm not optimistic. Currently, on June 28, he is still at Henry Ford Detroit. They will release him soon, but they can't until they have a Dialysis chair set up for him to go to near their home three days a week and possibly rehab. He has short-term memory issues now, but we're hopeful that it is either due to the delirium in patients in the ICU or one doctor mentions that the toxins the kidney can't clean will make their way to the brain/legs/etc. So that could be the cause of his short-term memory issues.
Anything donated will help Jim and my Mom with medical expenses and bills there unable to pay when he is on disability or if she needs to take off work to take care of him.
