With a heavy heart for a better future

My name is Mustafa Salah. I am from northern Gaza, the Beach Camp.

I am a 34-year-old journalist and a photographer, a profession I do wholeheartedly.

On December 2nd, 2023, while working, documenting the many horrible Israeli attacks, I myself became the target of one of them.

Back then I suffered heavy injuries which made me unable to resume my work for a long time. I also lost my home due to a bomb attack by the Israeli army and we lost everything we once had in that bomb attack. We were evicted several times during this time. When the israely army occupied our camp we had to leave our houses. My family and I stayed at my sister's house for a while, it was during this time that I suffered my injury. On December 25, 2023, the order to evacuate was also issued there. I was barley able to move due to the injuries to my legs and that of course made everything even harder for me. We spend that night on street in cold weather. After that horrible night we found refuge in Al-Shifa-Hospital until we received news that the israely army had withdrawn from our area. In the hope of being able to return home, we discovered that our house was nothing just ruins. We were accommodated in a school, which was later hit by an Israeli bomb. My brother's daughter was killed in this attack. Now we live with several people in a small, only halfway usable apartment.

Currently there is no hope for a future that worth living. We suffer from homelessness and malnutrition and there is no proper medical care. To this very day, my injuries are not properly treated and I am still in pain.
