Hello, my name is Russell Spears and I am writing to ask for your support during a trying time. My wife Nielah and I recently won a three-year battle with the NY foster care system and were awarded guardianship of our 2 and 3-year-old nephews.

Despite our challenges, including constant travel to NY for court hearings and missed work, leasing an apartment to establish residency in New York to keep the boys together during the proceedings, managing two households, and providing for two babies, we remained committed to seeing the process through.

But our troubles didn't end there. The contractor for the NY state's foster care system neglected to file for the boys' birth certificates, creating delays, and submitted the incorrect name to the courts, compiling the trouble and inconvenience of getting the children any assistance. Our lives were entirely uprooted during this time, and our savings were completely depleted.

Unfortunately, we face yet another challenge in our lives. We have been dealt a devastating blow with Nielah recently being diagnosed with breast cancer. She is undergoing chemotherapy treatments, but the road ahead is a difficult one, filled with grueling chemotherapy treatments and we are struggling financially to cover the mounting medical expenses and provide for the babies.
