Funeral for Melissa Salazar

Melissa Salazar is a 28 year old single mother who has a 6 year old little girl.  Melissa went into the hospital on 12/28/14 because she was suffering from what she thought was a Sciatic Nerve Pain.  She was immediately admitted to University Medical Center where doctors found that she was actually suffering from Metastatic Cervical Cancer that had already spread to her hip bones and thoughout her liver.  It was so severe that there were far more cancer cells than there were blood cells.  The doctors did not want to do chemotherapy because they felt that it would kill her instantly.  She was basically told that it was a waiting game for her life to come to an abrupbt end.  With no further options, she was released from the hospital on 01/12/15 to hospice care.  On 01/14/15 Melissa fainted and was taken by ambulance back to UMC.  The doctors did not think she would make it through the night so her family and daughter had to say their last goodbyes.  Melissa passed away on the morning of 01/15/2015 with her 4 sisters and mom by her bedside.

Within a three week period, she found out she had Cervical Cancer, found out that there was no cure or options for treatment and lost her life with no preparation of her illness.  The family is struggling to come up with the funds for the funeral and have set up a donation car wash for Saturday 01/24 at EZ Pawn on 6th Avenue and I-10 @ 9am and Sunday 01/25 at All Star Window Tint located at 5025 S 12th Avenue @ 9am. The family is trying to lay their mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend to rest.
