Hello everyone,

My name is Aaliyah, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help for my family who have been deeply affected by Hurricane Melissa. I’m raising money to help rebuild and repair three homes that belong to some of the most important people in my life: my grandmother, my uncle, and my aunt. Each of them has suffered tremendous loss in this devastating storm, and right now, they’re struggling to find safety, stability, and hope again.

This hurricane tore through their community and left behind unimaginable destruction. My uncle completely lost his entire home; the walls, the roof, everything he worked so hard for is gone. Years of memories, family photos, furniture, and keepsakes were all swept away in an instant. He’s now trying to find somewhere safe to stay while facing the reality that he’ll have to rebuild his life from the ground up.

My grandmother, who is the heart of our family, also suffered great damage. Half of her roof was ripped off, leaving her home open to the rain and wind. Everything inside was drenched: her bed, her furniture, even the kitchen where she spent years cooking for us. She’s elderly, and it breaks my heart to see her living through this kind of trauma. She’s always been the one to help others in need, and now she’s the one who needs us.

My aunt also experienced severe damage to her home; her roof was torn apart, and water poured through her ceilings, destroying most of her belongings. The leaks have made parts of her home unsafe to live in, and she’s been trying her best to salvage what’s left. She’s staying strong for everyone else, but I know how much this loss has broken her spirit.

My family has always been proud and hardworking, never asking for much. But right now, they are facing a situation that no one could prepare for. These homes weren’t just buildings; they were our memories, our comfort, and our connection to one another. Seeing them destroyed has been devastating.

I’m creating this GoFundMe to raise money to help fix and rebuild their homes, starting with my grandmother’s, then my uncle’s, and my aunt’s. The funds will go toward roof repairs, rebuilding materials, furniture replacement, food, and essential living costs while they recover. Every single dollar will go directly toward helping them get back on their feet and restoring a sense of normalcy after this tragedy.
