Troi është 5 vjeç dhe ka një gjendje komplekse shëndetësore që përfshin sistemin neurologjik, sistemin gastrointestinal, funksionin imunitar dhe metabolizmin qelizor.

Gjatë muajit të fundit, Troi ka përjetuar dy episode të përkeqësimit të theksuar akut neurologjik, secili duke zgjatur rreth një javë, të karakterizuara nga një gjendje e ngjashme me maninë, me çrregullim ekstrem të funksionimit, agjitacion të rëndë, dëmtim të vetëdijes dhe humbje të konsiderueshme të aftësive funksionale.

Troi is 5 years old and has a complex health condition involving his neurological system, gastrointestinal system, immune function, and cellular metabolism.

Over the past month, Troi has experienced two episodes of significant acute neurological deterioration, each lasting approximately one week. These episodes were characterized by a manic-like state, extreme disruption of his normal functioning, severe agitation, altered awareness, and a significant loss of functional abilities.

These recent episodes have been among the most alarming moments we have experienced as parents.

They have made us realize that we cannot continue focusing only on treating the consequences. We need to understand what is happening at the root of his condition.

We have contacted several specialized clinics in the United States that treat complex neurological cases. Troi’s case has been reviewed and accepted by these clinics, and their medical teams are prepared to work with us to find the right path toward improving his health.

This gives us hope that, after years of searching, we have finally reached medical teams who are willing to look at Troi as a whole and work to understand the factors underlying his condition and deterioration.

The medical problems documented so far include cerebral folate deficiency, severe intestinal dysbiosis, increased intestinal permeability, neuroinflammation, high endotoxin burden, mitochondrial dysfunction, metabolic abnormalities, and impaired immune function. These problems cause significant difficulties with the regulation of his nervous system and with his level of awareness and ability to understand and respond to his surrounding environment, directly affecting his everyday functioning. Even things that are ordinary for many children have become major challenges for him.

Troi’s journey has been a continuous struggle since the earliest years of his life. He has undergone many therapies, evaluations, and treatments, while we, as his parents, have done everything we possibly could to help him.

Troi has received various therapies, including neuromodulation therapy, ABA therapy, occupational therapy, sensory integration therapy, feeding therapy, osteopathy, and other programs focused on his development and functioning. We have completed numerous tests, searched for specialists in different countries, and tried different medical approaches, always hoping to find something that could help him. Unfortunately, none of these approaches has brought the improvement we had hoped for.

Caring for Troi requires our constant presence, while the costs of testing, consultations, therapies, treatments, and living expenses over these years have consumed almost all of our financial resources.

We have reached a point where we can no longer afford to cover the expenses required for Troi’s care on our own. Meanwhile, his medical needs continue, and time is extremely important to us.
