Mass Grave Excavation in Romania

Donation protected
As a masters student studying forensic anthropology, one of the most common questions I am asked is what kind of job I think I'll get when I finish studying. This question has never been particularly difficult for me, I've always wanted to work excavating mass graves. Unfortunately, this is an area that is almost impossible to study and get experience in - especially in Australia... but not, as it turns out, in Romania.

Recently I was lucky enough to be accepted into a three week field school excavating a likely epidemic mass grave in Transylvania, Romania through Archeotek Archaeology. This will be followed by a four week workshop on the analysis of skeletal pathologies.  The field school runs from June 12 until July 2, 2016 and the pathology workshop runs from July 3 until Jul 23, 2016. This is an amazing opportunity which will allow me to get experience in the field working on a real mass grave.

Along with this exciting once in a life time opportunity comes some significant fees for courses, airfares, local travel, food, and equipment. The total for the trip will be somewhere in the region of $10,000. While I'm not expecting to raise the full total, every little bit helps!
