KBerg's Brain Tumor Journey
The Back Story
It's a brain tumor. And it's not new to 24-year-old Daniel Knollenberg. His father had already been fighting the effects of this diagnosis for two years when his youngest son was born. Sixteen short years later, Daniel lost his dad to the debilitating effects of this robber of health. But it didn't steal the determination and faith of the family left here on earth. Daniel went on to attend Virginia Tech where he began serving as a worship leader and he continued to do so in the years since graduation. Through his personal interactions and role as a leader, he has humbly inspired hundreds - if not thousands - in their faith journey. He continues to do so....
Today
A seemingly minor car accident Daniel was in on March 30, 2018 was the trigger to a major revelation. Daniel began having seizures. He had symptoms at the end of a Sunday service, went in for testing and was told at that he had a large brain tumor.
He has since had a biopsy, the results of which confirm the tumor is malignant. Daniel will be undergoing major brain surgery at Duke University Hospital soon.
The Future
Loss of income, hospital admission, testing, surgery, treatment and rehabilitation all amount to a number we can only imagine (multiply times 10 and we might be in the ballpark!) Due to the nature of his tumor Daniel needs to use out-of-network resources. GoFundMe wants us to state a finite fundraising goal, so we chose a number. After speaking with the family, they just want to express their gratitude for the love, support, and prayers going up on their behalf. "We know we serve and awesome God whom we trust and we know God has big plans to use this to His Great glory." And we, the friends of Daniel, believe that, too. Sincere thanks for any contribution - by prayer or pledge - that you are called to contribute. (The beneficiary of the fund is Daniel's mother Vicki Knollenberg-Simon as she is managing all of his medical bills.)
... I won’t win this battle with the strength of my own hands
You’re the Mountain Mover, and only You can
I won’t build my life on sinking sand
You’re my hope forever, the Rock where I stand...
