Enjoy my goblin visage. I hate writing these things, I think this is like the seventh or eighth crowdfund I've made in six years. To keep this brief- due to a harassment campaign, the animation industry imploding, and general barriers lacking a car, credit, being neurodivergent and physically disabled- I left California in mid-2024. After some respite with extended family, I had to pretty abruptly move after several altercations due to religious disputes. A counselor suggested I move to the Twin Cities in Minneapolis, given the lower cost of living, strong tenant protections and social safety nets- compared to California or Florida. Initially, I scraped by, eventually landing employment as an intern at a coffee shop. Unfortunately, that employment ended in August, and neglected to bring me on full time. Despite applying to over a hundred retail, food service, data entry and office jobs, and several interviews, none have hired me, and even my animation connections have come up dry. The job market here is so barren, that with my lack of car and physical health limits, I need more time to find a steady gig. I've exhausted every possible resource, asking case workers, former co-workers, mutual aid organizations and charities for support- and everything has come up dry due to the Trump regime and general economy. This summer, I found evidence pointing towards a neglected endocrinological/autoimmune disorder covered up post-birth by much of my family. I have a team of doctors in specialty care, where I'm starting down the chain to discuss medications and surgery to improve my quality of life. I see a geneticist in February at a DSD clinic to figure out what I even.... am, and how that affects my quality of life. In the event I were to go into a shelter or some sort of job corps certification training, I would not only have to junk all my belongings, I risk losing my existing medical network one way or another, and wouldn't have a guarantee of employment afterwords. This has left me with no option but to attempt crowdfunding. I recognize that my online reputation in the art and queer community isn't the best, but I hope at least some people get what I'm saying and are able to help. Everyone deserves safe, stable housing, access to healthcare and employment. I desperately want to be independent, and live a healthy life.
