Kaytie breaks a world record & fights transphobia

Donation protected
Hi! My name is Kaytie, and I'm a runner. A transphobe has set a world record for the fastest half marathon dressed as a witch. I have a half in three weeks and have a chance to set the record straight. I need your help to get my application in front of the Guinness Committee in time.

I'm also queer, and an ally to my Trans friends- part of which sometimes entails just acknowledging their existence and refusing to let their identities be erased. This shouldn't be the bar, but sadly sometimes it is. Being an ally also means standing up for them when harm has been done. This brings me to now, and why I'm asking you to donate to this fundraiser.

On Friday, Runner's World published an article reporting that a woman had broken the Guinness World Record for Fastest Female Half Marathon Dressed as a Witch. In her victory tweet, she tweeted the hashtag #IStandWithJKRowling and indicated that her motive was to protest "witch hunts" against women "who have the audacity to stand up for themselves". As many of you know, JK Rowling has a longstanding history of identifying as a TERF: A Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminist. This means that she does not believe that trans women should be considered women. She has supported other TERFs on Twitter and written harmful rhetoric about members of the Trans community.

I do not believe that calling out harmful rhetoric and asking for individuals to do better amounts to a "witch hunt" against that person. JK Rowling has, again and again, doubled down on her stance in a way that has harmed my friends. I wish to break this world record to let my friends and those in the LGBT community that I have never met know, that they matter, they exist, and that we will not stand idly by and allow them to be erased or invalidated.

This is where I need your help. I know that I'm more than capable of beating the current world record. I even have a half marathon set up where I can run it dressed as a witch. But, it's in three weeks- and to get approved in time, I need to apply for priority consideration to Guinness World Records: an $800 fee. I need you all to know that I'm taking a chance here- they could deny my application. But I think it's worth a try. Can you help me?

If I do not reach my goal, I will be donating the money to The Trevor Project.
Thank you for reading and considering supporting me.
