Support Kay (Karine) Through Major Cancer Surgery and Recovery

Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out as a close friend of Kay to ask for your support for a truly special person. Just a few weeks ago, Kay was diagnosed with colon cancer and is now preparing for major surgery June 2nd, followed by at least 6 weeks of recovery.

The major surgery will involve removing a malignant polyp, along with part of her colon.

As you can imagine, the weeks since her diagnosis have been incredibly difficult — filled with uncertainty, fear, and waiting to find out whether the cancer had spread.

Thankfully, recent scans show that the cancer has not spread, and as of now, no chemotherapy is needed. This has brought tremendous relief after weeks of uncertainty — but the road ahead still includes major surgery, physical, emotional, and financial challenges during recovery.

As the owner of a small business, Kay is self-employed and doesn’t have the safety net of paid leave. She’ll need to take time away from work to focus fully on healing.

Her husband—her biggest supporter—will also need to take time off to accompany her to appointments, manage things at home, and be there for her through it all.

We’ve started this GoFundMe to help cover:

• Loss of income while both Kay and her husband take time off work

• Monthly bills and groceries during recovery

• Gas and parking for medical appointments

• Occasional help at home with meal prep and housework

• Prescription medication required in the week leading up to surgery

We’re aiming to raise $10,000 to ease the financial burden and give Kay the peace of mind to focus on healing over the next couple of months.

Kay will be posting updates on her Facebook page so friends and loved ones can follow along and stay connected. In her typical generous spirit, she wants everyone to know that any unused funds at the end of her recovery will be donated to a cancer support charity—something that means a great deal to her.
