Hey friends and fellow dog lovers- I am reaching out for support for a family and puppy in need. Back in November I received two foster puppies. They weren’t even 3 lbs., found living outdoors in a wire cage with their 5 siblings. The puppies were emaciated, covered in fleas and filth. Even having gone through this, Piper was resilient, playful and full of love. Her furever family seemed to find me! They - Kaylin and Charlie (and Myles) - fell in love with her on sight. I have kept in touch with the family and received the following message from Kaylin. “Piper has been the happiest, sweetest girl and she is so thankful to be in a loving home. She has the sweetest bond with Myles (Kaylin’s son) and they are inseparable.”

At Piper’s first vet visit she was given her puppy shots and announced healthy! The vet stated that the vaccines could cause swelling. Two hours after the shots, a huge red spot developed in her eye. Kaylin assumed it had something to do with the vaccines. However, she was concerned and immediately returned to the vet. Piper was diagnosed with ‘Cherry Eye’ which requires surgery. Right now it only effects one eye, however, on examination the vet determined the other eye is also showing swelling in the gland and it is expected that both eyes will be impacted. With the surgery and spay, the family is looking at a $2500 bill!
