Hello, this wonderful young lady is Kaylie Faith. She is my oldest daughter and has been dealing with childhood cancer for a little over a third of her life. At 8 years old, she was diagnosed with Stage IV neuroblastoma and had a very large tumor in her lower abdominal area as well as many others up her spine and neck. So, for about a year and a half, doctors used a combination of very powerful chemotherapy, bone marrow transplants, radiation, and many surgeries. Throughout all this, she stayed in high spirits and always stayed positive despite many long stays in the hospital. She eventually went into remission, and we thought it was over. Needless to say, a year later it returned, and we started everything all over again, but this time it was localized mainly in the spine. By God's grace, she made it through more surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, etc., and eventually went into remission once again.
She recently had scans done for her biannual visit and also due to some headaches and head pain, which led to the discovery of yet another relapse. She now has multiple skull lesions, essentially bone tumors, as well as cancer of the dura, which is the lining between the skull and brain. These dural tumors are thankfully not in the brain itself. It is the Stage IV neuroblastoma returning with a vengeance and is very aggressive according to the amount of tumor cells in the bone marrow along with other tests and scans that presented abnormal readings. As of right now, she will start a very powerful chemotherapy this week and do a few rounds of that, then we will have to visit Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for treatment options. Treatment options will be limited due to the exhaustion of most options available. So, a lot of trials and other options will not be covered by insurance.
We are starting this GoFundMe to ask for help during this very trying time. We are a family of 5 and already struggle to make ends meet. We do not have transportation at the moment because of not having a vehicle as well as the death of one of Kaylie's grandmothers about 2 months ago. She was the main source of transportation when it came to the hospital and emergency situations. Kaylie and her 2 younger sisters are homeschooled since COVID and the cancer diagnosis. Kaylie is a great big sister and a great overall young lady. She loves school, cooking, singing, gaming, her family, and God. We just want to make her comfortable during these times and be able to provide everything she needs as well as what our family needs to get through this. We want to give her the greatest chance possible at beating this thing as well. So, we are just asking for help to be able to do this for her. All prayers and donations will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
