This is Kayleigh, she’s a 22 year old student paramedic & Care assistant. Those of you who know kayleigh will know she’s a bubbly, bright, caring and funny girl, She always stays positive in any situation she’s faced with.
Unfortunately December 2023 Kayleigh ended up with severe pneumonia , Kayleigh’s life changed dramatically after this when in January 2024 she was taking seizures 24/7, She was unable to keep working / studying & Doctors had no idea at the time what was causing this, Sometimes kayleigh’s seizures can be hours on end & at points she’s gave everyone a real big fright by being unable to come out of them on her own, this means she’s absolutely exhausted all the time.
Kayleigh got taken into hospital on the 21st of November for what she would be a couple night stay at most, 7 weeks later & 2 different hospitals , Kayleigh is now receiving care from the specialist at Neurology Queen Elizabeth, where she has been diagnosed with FND (Functional Neurological Disorder). We think this has been caused by the stress of pneumonia on Kayleigh’s body in december.
Her seizures have left her unable to speak properly, eat on her unassisted & she is now learning to walk again.
As you can imagine this has had a severe impact on Kayleigh as this is all scary and new to her. Throughout this whole experience Kayleigh has stayed positive but as you can imagine she is finding this very difficult to do so.
Kayleigh’s dream is to get to Australia by the end of the year and having this goal set is pushing her recovery.
As Kayleigh’s bestfriend I am asking for help to make this possible for her and take away some stress of being able to do this.
Thank you for taking the time to read, Keep going Kayleigh… We are all behind you cheering you on
