Hi, my name is Kaylee, and I’m currently on a journey to pay off $156,000 in student loan debt while going to school and living with Type 1 diabetes.

I started documenting this journey online because I wanted to hold myself accountable and show what it’s really like trying to become debt-free while also building my future.

I’m currently working toward my Nursing (BSN) career, and education is important to me because I want to create a better future for myself and my family so we don’t struggle. But at the same time, I have the ongoing expenses that come with living with Type 1 diabetes.

Diabetes isn’t something I can simply put on hold while I focus on my finances. My Dexcom, Tandem t:slim, and other diabetes supplies are necessities. There are times when I spend more than $1,000 on medical supplies and diabetes-related expenses each month just to manage my condition.

So I’m trying to balance three major things at once: going to school, taking care of my health, and paying down $156,000 in student loan debt.

That’s why I created this GoFundMe.

My goal isn’t to ask someone to magically erase my entire debt. I’m asking for help making this mountain a little smaller.

Every $1, $5, $10, or $20 contribution can help me put more money toward my debt and reduce some of the financial pressure I’m carrying. The money raised will be used to help me manage my financial obligations, including reducing my student loan debt and helping me stay financially stable while managing the costs associated with Type 1 diabetes and school.
