Kaylee’s Journey

Hello, My name is Adela and I am Kaylee’s mom. Kaylee had been struggling with a variety of different symptoms until we were finally given a diagnosis. In June 2023 Kaylee was experiencing vision loss, nause, no appetite, inability to walk long distances, weight loss and many other symptoms. We were sent to an eye specialist and he diagnosed her with chronic papilledema and referred us to a neurologist. While we waited for that appointment we were also sent to get an MRI. That is when we realized that this was a much more serious matter. Kaylee has a tumor laying near her pituitary gland which is located in the middle of the brain. Right above that she also has a golf sized cyst which they were able to decompress by inserting an Omaya reservoir and exerting the excess fluid. Her diagnosis is Craniopharyngioma. Our pituitary gland controls all hormones including those that produce growth. Surgery is not an option so therefore we will be starting radiation treatments which will last 4-6 weeks Monday through Friday. I will need to stay here in Houston for that timeframe. These funds will help us provide stability in transportation and help keep up with our expenses at home while I reside here with her.
