Kaylee Stuart is the daughter of R.W. (Dub) And Krista Stuart of Hays, KS.

Kaylee is 16 years old and was born with a congenital heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). She underwent multiple open heart surgeries in the first 2 years of her life to enable the hearts right ventricle to pump blood to the entire body, as the left side is severely under developed.

She has had a number of subsequent open chest procedures for a pacemaker and revisions - most recently in the last year.

Dub and Krista have navigated the medical system, advocating for Kaylee for 16 years, and it has culminated into the need for cardiac transplant. After two months on list, they got the call and their family headed to Children’s Mercy in Kansas City for surgery on 5/14/26.

We absolutely want to acknowledge her donor and family. Their sacrifice has provided the ultimate gift of life for Kaylee.

Surgery and recovery will be long and require a 3 month stay for the Stuart’s in KC. While they would never ask for help in this way, so many have reached out asking us how they can support Kaylee. My hope is that this will allow them to fully focus on Kaylee and their family’s needs while away from home/work and support her recovery without worry of the financial stressors associated with a medically complex child.

Kaylee has amazed us thus far with her determination and strength, she is a fighter.
