Kaylee's GCS/SRS Surgery

I am a strong and proud transgender woman in the beautiful state of Colorado.  Discovering how to be my true self has been one of the most liberating and wonderful accomplishments in my life.  It has also been one of the most difficult things I have ever been through.  Not everyone is kind, and I'm not always strong enough to brush aside the daily attacks on my character, but I'm trying and I'm getting better.

Everyone's transition journey and transformation is different.  There isn't a right way to get there, and everyone's definition of their goals are different.  I have a strong aversion to the male gender role I was raised as.  That manifests in me as both emotional and physical dislike of myself and my body.  I have been on hormones for over a year with my sights set on gender confirmation surgery.  The surgery is not a decision I, my wonderfully supportive wife, or all the medical professionals I've worked with  took lightly.  I've never had a doubt that I wanted this surgery, but there has been a very long list of hoops to jump through to get the thumbs up and approval from all the doctors, therapists, the hospital, and the surgeon.

When I first started my transition I was at a job that, while wildly anti-LGBTQ+, had insurance that covered my gender confirmation surgery.  Twelve hours after picking up my first prescription for hormones to start HRT, I was given notice that I was being laid off, just me.  It took two months to find a new job, and in that time we had to use our savings to pay rent and put food on the table.  Flash forward to my new job where they respect and support me as an openly transgender person.  Sadly though, the insurance is very weak and does not cover my surgery.  We had to start over saving for it from scratch.

In the first few weeks of 2019 we had enough money to pay for the deposit and the surgeon's fees.  That still left a significant amount missing for traveling out of state for the procedure, renting a hotel for 2 weeks, loosing 2 weeks of income because I don't get paid time off, food, anesthesia fees, renting a car, medical supplies for recovery, vitamins, cheap underwear, bed pads, expensive dilators, cases of medical grade lubricant, and that's just a few of the extra expenses.

Faced with waiting sometimes years for a surgery date, I was very very lucky to lock-in the first available date with one of the top surgeons in the country in May of this year 2019.  That date is very rapidly approaching.  I've already paid for most of the surgery, I just need your immediate help with the last little bit of hospital fees, and to get me there and back safely and comfortably, and to help me recover.
