Kayla’s road to recovery

Hello!
My name is Dana Seigelstein, and I am the beloved sister of Kayla Seigelstein. My sister Kayla is genuine, caring, hilarious, kind, outgoing, a ray of light and she is an amazing daughter, sister, friend, granddaughter, niece and person.
In March of 2018 when Kayla was living in Maryland working full-time and supporting herself, she developed an infection that numerous doctors were unable to identify. A month later she was diagnosed with Lyme disease, Babesiosis, and Bartonella. Unable to sit up for five minutes, move without crying from pain, or have a conversation, she returned home to New Jersey to be taken care of by her family. The last year and a half has been a daily struggle for Kayla yet she continues to get up everyday and fight through. She is 25 years old and her life has been put on hold as she is unable to do what she could before she was sick. These diseases are debilitating, and come with vigorous medication treatments, nausea, weakness, lethargy, night sweats, cognitive decline, shortness of breath, inflammation of her brain and body, headaches and body pain like she has never experienced before - just to name a few symptoms.
Kayla has spent all of her finances and savings fighting for her life and she could benefit from help from the community. The Center for Disease and Control, CDC does not view lyme disease and co-infections to be chronic illnesses and therefore insurance rarely pays for any treatments. There are still new doctors she needs to see and treatments she wants to try which she does not have the finances for. The donations will also go towards bloodwork, scans, medications, supplements, treatments and doctor visits. Most people in her situation would have given up after a year and a half but that is not her personality and she will continue to do anything to get her life back.
Thank you so much for your ongoing support and love, it has meant the world to us. Kayla is always the person helping others, now we can help her.
