For Kayla, With Love

Sometimes life throws something so heavy, so unfair, that it takes your breath away. Last month, our radiant friend Kayla — wife to Jeff, mama to sweet little Jax — was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. In an instant, their world shifted, and the road ahead became one filled with surgeries, treatments, uncertainty, and fear.

Next week, Kayla will undergo a double mastectomy. After that, she faces the possibility of chemotherapy and radiation. Right now, she’s in the thick of it — navigating countless medical appointments, making decisions no one should ever have to make, and trying to hold it all together for her family. We’re starting this fundraiser because they shouldn’t have to do it alone.

If you know Kayla, you know she’s a bright spark in this world - the kind of person who lifts everyone around her. She’s a tiny Hawaiian firecracker full of laughter, heart, and unstoppable energy. She’s the loudest cheerleader, the most loyal friend, the mama who loves with every inch of her being. Kayla brings joy wherever she goes. And even now, in the face of something so big, she’s still thinking about everyone else, still smiling, still showing up with that incredible light of hers. But here’s the truth: Kayla needs us now.

Because she’s not an Australian citizen, she doesn’t qualify for Medicare. So things like scans, treatments, hospital stay aren’t fully covered and the bills are already piling up. On top of that, daily life continues: rent, daycare, groceries, electricity. All of it keeps coming. And there’s more - before starting chemo, Kayla and Jeff have had to fast-track IVF to preserve their dream of growing their family. Cancer doesn’t just threaten her health - it threatens their future.

She’s had to pause her full-time work indefinitely. Jeff is doing everything he can to support her and Jax while also working, and while they’re incredibly lucky to have friends and extended family nearby, the emotional and logistical load is still heavy. It’s a weight no one should have to carry alone.

This is where we come in. Her village. Her people.
