Hello Everyone! I was fortunate enough to be accepted into the Atlantis Fellowship Program during the summer session of 2017. During this fellowship I will have the wonderful oppurtunity of shadowing a doctor in Barcelona, Spain for three weeks, May 14th to June 3rd. While in Spain, I will be shadowing doctors and physicians around Hospital General de Catalunya, where I will be exposed to a variety of patients in multiple specialities. Along with shadowing doctors, I will be teaching other healthcare workers in that hospital English and exploring Barcelona to learn more about the city's culture.
As a nursing student at Long Island University's Brooklyn Campus, this will definitely help me get a better perspective of healthcare facilities outside of The United States. As an aspiring registered nurse, I understand how important cultural diversity is because no one patient is the same and this will be an incredible experience to observe it first hand. After graduating with my bachelors in nursing, I plan on getting some experience as an RN(2-3 years), then furthering my education by applying to medical school in efforts to become an Obstetrician/Gynecologist.
In advance, I thank anyone who donates and the prayers I recieve for my future journey. Please spread the word.
Thank you again!!
Best regards,
Kayla V.
