Kaylan's brain surgery around the corner!

I'm trying to raise funds for my 7-year-old niece, Kaylan. 

These last few weeks, we received devastating news that she has a very rare disease called Moyamoya, which affects about 1/300,000 people. Patients with moyamoya have progressive narrowing of the blood vessels in their brain, which causes decreased blood flow and oxygen to the brain.

Because of this, a stroke or seizure can happen anytime. We discovered her condition after getting multiple imaging tests because of the severe headaches and seizure-like symptoms Kaylan has been experiencing. Doctors found blood vessels in both sides of her brain are severely affected, and recommend surgery ASAP. 

She will need two brain surgeries where the surgeon will take a blood vessel closer to the surface and "lay" it on top of her brain where the lack of blood flow and oxygen is most evident, in hopes that the blood vessel will start forming connections with lacking areas.  The surgeon wants her to get this done ASAP. She will need 1-2 surgeries. Each brain surgery costs between $88,000-150,000.  Her insurance is not covering the cost, so we are trying to raise as much as we can for Kaylan to get the best help she can get.

Everyone who knows Kaylan would use words like sweet, loving, caring, smart, fun, sassy, faithful, and many more to describe her.  From her recent hospitalization this week, we came up with a new "middle" name with her - Braver - because she has exhibited way more courage through this time than I ever could muster up. We are fortunate that she has not experienced any stroke-like symptoms, but we are racing against time to get her the treatment she needs ASAP to prevent any neurological issues.

Anyone who has been to the doctor/hospital knows how quickly these bills add up, and I hope to raise some of the funds for her medical bills for the days ahead. Medical bills are already starting to pile from her recent imaging tests and admission in the hospital.

I know God's got her, and is wrapping her in His arms of protection every day. He has kept her safe, and kept her blood vessels in such a way that tremendously lessens potential complications for the surgery.
