I am thrilled to announce that I have been invited to attend AIMS, a 6-week vocal immersion program this summer in Graz, Austria!
The AIMS program is a world-renowned international training program that prepares elite musicians for a career in vocal performance. In addition to taking voice lessons, studying German, and performing in a concert series and operetta across the Graz region, I will be able to take one- on-one master classes from extremely accomplished singers like Christa Ludwig and Barbara Bonney. This program will be essential in creating a network for my graduate studies and performance career in Opera. Check out more details about the program here: www.aimsgraz.com.
My journey with music has been an incredible one. Since my first performance as Adelaide in "Guys and Dolls" at thirteen to Mrs. Potts in "Beauty and the Beast" on the Dowling Catholic stage, I discovered my true passion---singing. These opportunities made way for a first place award at NATS and my unforgettable summer studying classical voice at the Tanglewood Institute in Boston. Before I started studying at the Lawrence University Conservatory, I traveled to Italy to sing in my first opera "Le Nozze Di Figaro" as Cherubino which is where I knew that I was would do everything possible to make a career in singing a reality.
I owe an enormous thank you to my teacher and mentor at Lawrence University, Teresa Seidl, who has supported me and prepared me for AIMS with her endless hours of studio lessons and life chats. Her support is unmatched.
Finally, I wouldn't be anywhere without the generous support from my friends and family. My Mom, Dad, Kellie and Megan, along with my grandparents and extended family, have always been front and center at every performance cheering me on. You will never know what it means to me to have your support and love. Thank you.
When I was little, my sisters and I used to pretend we were frolicking down the hill like Maria and the Von Trapps in the Sound of Music. I can’t even believe that I could actually be in Vienna this summer learning and experiencing a city I only know from the musical. I guess the irony now, because of my training, I am more likely to be the Reverend Mother than Maria…but I’ll take it.
I feel very blessed to have been accepted to the AIMS program—as there are very few who are actually chosen. I hope that with your help, I can continue to learn and grow in an environment that supports me as a vocalist. I have posted my audition video below. Feel free to watch, listen and enjoy! If you are able, I would be honored to have your support both in donations and prayers. Thank you for your generosity!
