Kayla Pritchard’s Recovery Fund

Kayla is a regular practitioner of Bikram yoga, inferno Pilates and a part of the Energy Exchange Program at Bikram Yoga Plus Palm Desert. She always gives her all, on November 1st prior to the 7am class she had arrived to the studio and doing her pre-workout 1 armed side plank pushups when she collapsed with a Cardiac Arrest. Sheeryn the teacher started CPR for 15 minutes while waiting for the Paramedics, then they took over for another 25 minutes and had to use the defibrillator 3 times to bring her back. Kayla was on life support for 48 hours. The Drs had determined from an EKG that Kayla had like an extra heartbeat which caused the Sudden Cardiac Arrest. Kayla had a ICD (Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator) surgically placed in her chest. This ICD has a pacemaker and a defibrillator. The pacemaker can speed up heartbeat if it’s too slow and the defibrillator corrects fast dangerous heartbeats by giving a small amount of electricity to the heart.
Kayla is now home with her husband and son, however, this could be weeks before she can get back to work. Her family is in Thailand, husband Chris’s mom Freda has arrived to help from Memphis. We are looking to raise funds to assist Kayla and her family during this long process of her recovery.
