Kayla Hamar Needs Your Help

Donation protected
On Monday May 28th, 2018 Kayla suffered a stroke which resulted in losing the strength on her right side as well as 60 % reduction in her vision, along with short term memory loss. While Kayla was receiving treatment for the stroke it was later diagnosed that Kayla had a rare disease called Antiphospholipid Syndrome. APS is a type of autoimmune disorder that occurs when the immune system begins to attack normal proteins within the blood. It is believed that this is what caused a "Mass" or "vegetation" to grow in Kaylas' Heart value which is believed to be the location as to where a blood clot was formed that went to the back of her brain, causing the stroke. If the "mass" continues to grow in size, Kayla will be forced to undergo a heart valve replacement at the age of 24 years old.

Kayla will have to be on an aggressive blood thinner shot which will have to be administered by taking a shot into her stomach for the rest of her life. Also it is not known if Kayla will regain all or any of her eyesight back. We all can just imagine how challenging this will be in itself.

Because of this, Kayla will be out of work for the next 3 months or so. Having a 23 year old, fresh out of college student out of work for this long of time is going to be difficult. This will cause at least half of her and Dereks' income to be lost. With student loans, car loans, everyday bills, groceries and not including her medical treatment, rehab and other medical related expenses, this is going to be a big hit for this young couple financially.

As a newly married couple, fresh out of college this should be the prime years for Kayla and Derek. Instead these two have to worry about future strokes and Antiphospholipid Syndrome. That's why I am asking our friends and family to help make sure that this deadly disease doesn't put these young love birds further into debt. Find it in your hearts to donate even $1.

June is not only Kayla's Birthday month, it also happens to be Antiphospholipid Syndrome Awareness month.
