Hi, my name is Kayla, and I am fundraising to get my B.A. Psychology graduation parchment.

As many of you know, seven years ago I decided to go back to school, as I was struggling to find employment with only my grade 12 education. The past seven years have been nothing short of a battle, and now crossing the finish line has turned into yet another barrier.

What happened: I decided to take two more classes in Winter 2026 to work on my second degree in Health Studies. Unfortunately, for the first time ever, the loan system sent all funding directly to me; it did not send funds to the school for my tuition like it had every single previous semester. I was unaware of this; that funding paid the bills after Christmas, as to get a few gifts for my kids (one bio, one bonus) I had opted to let my bills double.

Each month that this goes unpaid, another $15.86 is tacked onto the total. Our income is already budgeted to the penny; there are no more pennies to squeeze out to pay this. I am stuck between a rock and a hard place; I cannot get into my field without my parchment, and I cannot get my parchment without more money. My options are to go into utility debt, starve the family, or ask for help.

So here I am, humbled, humiliated, and kindly asking for one more assist. Every dollar is a blessing and a huge help. I understand that life is insane for everyone, so please do not stress yourself to help me financially; sharing my fundraiser can be just as powerful.
