12 year old Kayd was diagnosed with stage 4 Medullablastoma brain cancer in 2021 and underwent extensive treatment per protocol due to his specific TP53 gene mutation which makes his diagnosis extremely high risk. A routine surveillance scan revealed his family's worst fears- relapse with areas of enhancement in his brain and spine June 23. He spent his days in clinic undergoing painful lumbar puncture treatments and receiving high dose chemotherapy. After 8 straight months of aggressive chemotherapy with repeat imaging every 3 cycles to monitor for new growth the family was heart broken to hear the current treatment had no effect on Kayd’s tumor. They were told it had grown from his last scan and current treatment needed to be stopped. He is so brave and incredibly strong, but this newly discussed intense treatment will test his little body to the max. Treatment being discussed will provide no break to regain his strength and requires a brain tube surgically implanted for direct chemotherapy to his tumor in providing him a chance at beating this dreadful disease. His family now more than ever needs the love & support of their family, friends, and community.
