Kayden's Heart

Background

On March 12th, 2019 Kevin Grove and Courtney Armer welcomed their baby boy, Kayden Grove, into the world. Kayden was born with a left ventricle outlet syndrome known as double outlet right ventricle (DORV).  In short, Kayden does not have a working left ventricle of his heart, which is responsible for pumping oxygen rich blood to the body, leaving the right ventricle to do all of the work.

Current Update

Kayden was initially release from the hospital a few weeks after birth.   However, after having trouble with his oxygen levels on a few separate occasions he will go in to have surgery on April 11th to have a stint put in his heart.   This surgery will be a band aid until he undergoes open heart surgery at 4 months AND 2 years. 

Kayden's Outlook

Because of enormous strides in medicine and technology, today most children born with double outlet right ventricle go on to lead productive lives as adults. Some patients won’t experience additional heart problems after surgery.   If all goes as well, Kayden should have a normal childhood aside from having limitations when it comes to strenuous aerobic activity.  

Why and How you can help.  

Courtney and Kevin have met this challenge with inspiring faith and grace.  They have asked for no sympathy or assistance, but they could definitely use some external financial support.  Courtney is on unpaid leave from her job in the restaurant service industry and Kevin has chosen a career path of coaching; dedicating his life to training young athletes and coaching baseball.  As with most careers which focus on serving others, it's difficult to build a financial nest egg for a life altering event such as this.   As a result, we would like to join as a community and raise $25,000 to support Courtney and Kevin so they can focus their attention and resources on Kayden's needs during his vital first two years of life.
