#Team Kaydee fights COVID 19

Kaydee is a 16-year-old young lady who never would have thought she would become a victim of COVID 19. This was far from her mind. An energetic young lady who is in high school and has met with some challenges like many other people in America this year. She didn’t get to finish the school year with her friends, she didn’t get to participate in any sports, couldn’t work her part-time job, and like many others she isolated herself in her home. She has taken all the precautions such as wearing a mask in public, washing her hands, using hand sanitizer, and staying clear of people.
Recently Kaydee felt ill and with the telehealth capability her mother sought treatment. Kaydee was swabbed for COVID 19 at a local drive-through testing sight; before there was a chance of resulting Kaydee began to crash with-in 24 hours. Kaydee began with body aches, a fever, a headache, tightness in her chest, feeling like she couldn’t take a deep breath, extremely tired, and then lost her sense of smell. Her mother who had been working called and checked up on her. She told her mother of her new symptom. Thinking quickly Sandra instructed Kaydee to go to the fridge and get out the Tabasco Sauce and smell it. Kaydee lost her ability to smell. Sandra left work and rushed home to take Kaydee to the Emergency Room where she stayed for 8 hours for testing and observation. After multiple tests, radiology studies, and yes, another COVID 19 swabbed which all lead down the path of positive for COVID 19.
Kaydee was discharged to home under the care of her mother with breathing treatments, steroids, and other medications to give her comfort. Sandra then had to proceed to get herself screened as she too may have the virus. Now because Kaydee is positive, Sandra is not allowed back to work for at least 14 days while she too remains in quarantine. Two days later Kaydee began to get weaker and sicker. Kaydee was barely eating or drinking. Extremely tired and fatigued she felt she couldn’t even take the energy to talk. Sandra took Kaydee back to the Emergency room and then was admitted to the pediatric ICU due to her condition. Kaydee is an age group which is relatively low risk.
Kaydee has a long road of recovery ahead of her. The virus has caused inflammation of her lungs and is need of more medical testing. She needs a cardiac echo to check for any damage to her heart, follow up care, and time to heal. The first medical bills have started to arrive and it is unsure whether how many more times Kaydee may need treatment or admission. The expectation that it may take at least 6 weeks or more.
Sandra is a single mother who works fulltime already and Kaydee works part-time to save for college. Kaydee and Sandra have faith in the good lord above and pray for healing, for guidance, and for our nation. Kaydee is now becoming a spoke person so she can share her story, show that this virus is real, this virus can destroy a family, and it can take your life, no matter age, race, or gender. COVID 19 is not biased and doesn’t care if you are rich or poor. Kaydee is sharing her story so other’s may follow the proper precautions even though she is weak. This virus is not to be taken likely and we need to all work together and do everything in our power to help decrease the spread. Kaydee is grateful her grandmother is safe but is scared that her grandmother may contract the virus and not be able to make it as she isn’t as healthy as Kaydee.
How can we in return help Kaydee and her mother through these difficult times? Anything you can donate is greatly appreciated and will surely go to a good cause. Sandra and Kaydee rely on faith, friends, family, and above all God our father. Please help them in the hour of need. We know that many families are struggling right now and this family is no different. Your donation will allow Sandra to care for her daughter so she can heal. Sandra and Kaydee offer their sincerest thanks and gratitude to all those who continue to fight this virus and offer love, support, and prayers. Even if you cannot donate; please pray for Kaydee, Sandra, and our nation. May god bless you and your family.
