Sandra “Kay” Phillips
Donation protected
On Thursday, February 15, on her way home from her granddaughter’s basketball game with her best friend Shelia, the car Kay was in was hit head-on by a drunk driver. Kay was severely injured, suffering from a broken neck, broken legs, cracked ribs, a ruptured spleen, an enlarged heart, collapsed lungs, and a crushed bone in her spine. Kay is now (hopefully temporarily) paralyzed and has no feeling from the shoulders down. While she is recovering well and has had several surgeries, the doctor says it could take up to 6 months for her spine to heal.
Kay is a beloved custodian at the University of Mississippi. Every day, she greets the students coming into the math department with a beautiful smile and a cheerful “Good morning.” She is greatly missed by the Ole Miss community and we want to make sure that her needs are taken care of while she is out of work. All donations will be used to cover household expenses, medical bills, and rehabilitation therapy.
Please contribute to this worthy cause.
Shelia was also severaly injured in the accident. You can contribute to her campaign at the following page: www.gofundme.com/shelia-lewis.
