Have you ever met an angel? I have.
The world has lost a beloved wife of over 52 years, a best friend, a sister, a daughter, an aunt…a beloved soul. After being an earthbound angel, God claimed her and took her home.
Kay Hemrick passed away early the morning of September 7, 2023, after an awe-inspiring battle with Covid and the lung infection it left behind.
Those of us who were blessed to have known her, have watched her struggle with an incredibly severe case of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis since the age of 12. She used to joke that she could set off every metal detector in the area. At her bedside, everyone agreed, none of us had ever heard her complain.
And that is God’s honest truth.
She is survived by her husband, Virgil, who had selflessly cared for her their entire adult lives and their chosen daughter, Lyssa. Although Kay and Virgil did not physically have children, their siblings. friends and fellow church members will tell you that they played a major part in the raising of dozens, if not hundreds of children through their selfless actions and extensive kindness, teachings, patience, friendship, and wisdom. Together, they practiced what they preached in every sense of the Word.
Kay was a warrior, a survivor and a fighter to the end. Her entire life, she fought valiantly against the odds and through the pain; and yet, for those of us blessed to have known her, she would look into our eyes and ask, “How are you?” and meant it. She wanted to know, to listen and to lend a shoulder to help carry any of your burdens. Her compassion was unlike anyone’s I’ve ever known. Her concern was never ending and always, always sincere and heartfelt.
We are reaching out for some help to lay her to rest and help with her medical expenses. Any donation, large or small, is greatly appreciated. Prayers are always welcome. I thank you in advance for your kindness…God Bless.
