A Letter From Kawehena:
My name is Kawehena, I am 15 years old and I love to sing! I live in Hilo, Hawaii, and am raising funds so that I may attend an Assemblies of God singing competition in Texas this summer.
After auditioning for this competition earlier in the year and receiving one of the highest scores in Hawaii, I was invited to attend the national Assemblies of God Fine Arts Festival in Houston, Texas. This festival allows students from around the country to compete in their chosen field of art and win a college scholarship sponsored by the Assemblies of God Church.

Singing at the Assemblies of God Youth Conference earlier on Oʻahu this year:

I am a sophomore in high school, a homeschooled student, and the oldest child of 8 kids. When Iʻm not busy with schoolwork or helping my parents take care of my siblings, I am a youth worship singer at Connect Point Church.
I am most passionate about people and singing. I thank God for giving me this gift that can be used to change lives by leading others to Christ through worship.
This opportunity to sing in Texas would mean so much to myself and my family, as it would be a chance for me to challenge myself as a singer, gain new friends and experiences, witness the many methods of sharing the gospel, as well as potentially set myself up for college and pursuing a degree in Fine Arts.

I am so grateful for any help that we might receive as I embark on this exciting new adventure! I am deeply thankful to have been blessed with an incredibly supportive and loving ʻohana and a church body that continually encourages me. I praise God for everything he has done for me in my life and I know I am BLESSED, BLESSED, BLESSED!!!
Love,
Kawehena
A Letter From Kawehenaʻs Parents:

As proud parents of our musically talented daughter, we are striving to guide Kawehena in her gifts and to help her choose her path carefully so that she may learn how to serve even as the spotlight shines on her.
As the backbone of her support system, we are both hoping to attend the AG Fine Arts Festival to be by her side as she competes for the first time at a national level.
We are so humbled to ask for support, both in contribution and in prayers, as we walk with Kawehena through this incredible opportunity.
In addition to beginning this account, we will be holding various fundraisers over the next few months to help subsidize the costs of this trip. A general breakdown of our goals are as follows:
Airfare for 3: $4000
Hotel for one week: $1000
Registration fee: $200
Total: $5200
*Update*
Current Fundraisers: <$2400>
Updated Total: $2800
If we are able to reach $1000 or more in donations on this platform, we will be sending out mahalo videos of Kawehena singing with surprise special guests joining her (hint-hint: her brothers also love to sing and play music!)
We are grateful and humbled at this opportunity to reach out beyond ourselves and ask for support from those who know and love Kawehena. She is already a shining star in our eyes, a girl with the biggest heart and a beautiful voice to match. Thank you so much for anything that is given, even in loving thoughts and supportive prayers.
Love,
Nahum and Malu
